Indian marriage

The hindu wedding emphasis on three things:happiness, harmony and growth. Before wedding engagement is done.Groom can't see his bride before one day of marriage it is considered as a bad luck. The bride applies heena on her hands and legs before wedding day.Bride wears red saree and groom wear salwaar kameez.Groom hides his face with flower veil and comes riding on horse. The broom comes at wedding place with his relatives. They dance and blow firecrackers.
The wedding place is decorated beautifully. The bride is brought in a palkee by her brothers and father to wedding place. The couple exchanges garland as a gesture of acceptance. Then kanyadan is perfomed. In this the bride father places her hand in the groom's hand requesting him to accept her as an equal partner. The concept behind Kanyadan is that the bride is a form of the goddess Lamxi and the groom is Lord Narayana. The parents are doing their union. The priest performs the havan.Havan is the fire which is the witnessed to the god.Havan is made up of crushed sandalwood, herbs, sugar rice and oil are offered to the ceremonial fire. Then nuptial knot is tied. The scarves placed around the bride and groom are tied together symbolizing their eternal bond. This signifies their pledge before God to love each other and remain faithful. Then they do five rounds around fire in clockwise direction. The groom applies a small dot of vermillion,a red coloured on the forehead of the bride welcoming her as a his life partner. The groom also tie a necklace which is called "mangalsutra" it is seen on every married women neck's.
